My name is Coyd Jordan of Coyd Jordan Photography as well as VisualCookUp. I was originally born in Guyana and moved to the United States at the tender age of eight.
All through my youth I recall having a hard time putting my energy and focus into one task. If I could manage to do more than one thing at a time, I would. As I got older, it became evident that it would benefit me to focus on one interest at a time - particularly in regards to a career.
Photography had been a long time interest of mine, but I put it on the back burner to pursue a career in the culinary arts. Several years into that career, I began missing photography, and decided to dust off my cameras. I certainly never want to remove the culinary arts from my life entirely, and while cooking does allow me to express myself, it is very different from the outlet that photography provides. As I have never been a man of many words, photography permits me to share and explore my thoughts without the use of language.
My photography leans towards a raw, dark and edgy style. I largely focus on working with lights and shadows. I marvel at how they compliment each other; at how they move, twisting and bending across an object, modifying it.
I am particularly fond of portrait photography, though old habits die hard, and I readily wet my feet in the many ponds of photography, and will continue to do so.
